Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game victorious streak was ended by the Black Cats before the global hiatus, but can the Premier League leaders bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated football expert Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this term, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of guests.

For week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' new album, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.

Football and Family Experiences

Murs is a talented soccer player as well as a successful artist and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid matches down the years - but he is not planning a professional return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a benefit game the other evening for a friend of mine," he said. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."

Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have a young family, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.

"I won't force football on our kids but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their Saturday soccer team," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously was involved with a football club for a while too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our side for several seasons and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Forecasts

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from fitness issues but their offense is already stronger with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both back fit.

In my opinion this fixture will be quite close, though. Burnley are well organised and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

This suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to choose the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple matches - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, West Ham won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look strong again.

West Ham's only on the road win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their manager Nuno was still that team's manager.

Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - can the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will go with Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a anomaly.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are performing strongly but West Ham have picked up under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the campaign began, but they have surprised a several observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their past four games.

A family member told me to select Bees striker Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

Thiago will probably score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great success on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to attack on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a danger.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

The singer's prediction: It could be one of those games where you expect there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually proves to be rather close. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.

They have have lots of quality in their squad but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone fight.

Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

Their performance in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team disrupt the North London side like that this term, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to back the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of disrupting Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the close of last month.

However I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to carry on going against the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive outcomes because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's home record, the sole side they have been defeated by is the league leaders. Their manager's side will be absolutely desperate for a positive result, so I am going to say they will secure three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's choice: I know the visitors are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a poor run... but Fulham have still been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard fixture to predict. Liverpool have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but might they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
