A revitalized the Russian player won his maiden title for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has endured a torrid season, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and ultimately separating with former mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Moutet.

This represents the player's initial title after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.

The win also means he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one different tournaments.

"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children together, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

His retrieving approach and regular reactions on the tennis court had prompted observers to question if his skill to compete at the highest level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, making an effort to approach the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an improved serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The competitors traded break points in the following set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent saved four initial opportunities in a tight deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner secured victory with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after two hours and 38 minutes.
