This situation demands a firm response from capitals across Europe. While some figures, including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, have been forceful in their rebuttals, including the office of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer—have continued with a strategy of attempting to appease the U.S. administration.
Recently, the UK government declined to criticize Trump's comments about Europe or his latest criticism on the mayor of London.
