Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care

Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor stands accused of carrying out sexual assaults involving thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.

Details of the Grave Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One senior prosecutor said, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Police Inquiry

The charges follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

Breakdown of Offences

The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
