Amateur players will have the possibility to claim A$1m when they compete against elite players - featuring top-ranked the Spanish champion - in a winner-takes-all point leading up to the Australian Grand Slam

Organizers of the year's first Grand Slam have revealed the $1 Million Single-Point Tournament, which will pit 10 amateur players against elite athletes in a single-elimination format at the tournament grounds

The Unique Competition Operates

Players will play 'the decision-making game' to establish who serves or receives, and the competitor securing the point will move forward to the subsequent phase

The winner of the event will receive £490,000

For comparison, players who reached the penultimate round of the main draw competitions in the 2025 Australian Open won over a million Australian dollars

Planners have not said exactly how the event will operate, but it is anticipated to follow a akin setup to the previous version

Entry Details

Domestic competitors - or foreign participants who have signed up with the national federation - can participate in 'One Point Slam' competitions at their community centers

The champions of the community events will then go into a random pairing, with an everyday competitor from every state and territory chosen to participate in the 'grand finale' in a night session on the specified date

There will also be a qualifying draw in late year which amateurs, developing professionals, celebrities and sport stars can enter

It begins on early January and the pair of champions will advance to Wednesday's 'final showdown' with the other eight amateurs and top-ranked athletes

"Regardless of your skill level, the final champion will claim the prize. Registrations will start imminently at venues throughout the nation"

Competition planners mentioned there were "additional stars to be announced soon", while the event portal indicated "well-known figures" would be participating
